Saskatchewan is a province in the central part of Canada. The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program is the way to immigrate to Canada and live in the province of Saskatchewan. In order to qualify for this program, you need to be registered with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) first.

The SINP will nominate candidates based on eligibility requirements.

The International Skilled Worker category is for skilled workers who want to immigrate to Saskatchewan and are living abroad or are already living in Canada. There are three ways to do this:

  3. Saskatchewan Express Entry – do not have a job offer in Saskatchewan but are in the IRCC Express Entry pool of applicants

You must have the following to apply:

  • express interest in living and working in Saskatchewan

  • have a valid Express Entry Number and Job Seeker Code

  • have a minimum of 60 points in the SINP system

  • have a degree equivalent to at least one year of Canadian education

  • have appropriate work experience in your degree field

  • have funds for resettling and a plan

  • pay the fee of $350 (subject to change)

There are also immigration options for those who already live and work or are students in Saskatchewan.

The higher the score, the better your chances of being nominated for immigration under the SINP.

Northwest Territories Immigration Programs

The Northwest Territories is a territory in the north central part of Canada. It works closely with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process immigrants to the territory. You will need a work permit through IRCC first to apply for immigration to the Northwest Territories.

The Employer-Driven Stream is for employers who cannot find qualified individuals already in Canada to provide work for them and want to hire international workers. You need to secure a job through an employer in the Northwest Territories to qualify. To be eligible, you need to show you have the education, skills, and experience (one year, full-time) in the job field and meet the language requirements.

The NWT Express Entry Program can help expedite the process. You would need to have a profile in the federal Express Entry system, have a Job Seeker Validation Code, and meet the criteria of the Skilled Worker program. When approved, you can receive 600 points under the program.

In order to qualify, you need to show the following:

  • have sufficient work experience

  • have sufficient education and skills

  • show a language proficiency

  • show a resettlement plan

British Columbia Immigration Programs

British Columbia is a province on the west coast of Canada. It has a growing economy that needs skilled workers. This could be a great way for you to immigrate to Canada. The Express Entry BC skilled worker category of the BC Provincial Nominee Program could be a good way to do this. The Express Entry program is also linked to the federal Express Entry program of Canada.

To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must accept a valid job offer from a BC employer.

  • You must have relevant training and at least two years related experience for the job.

  • The job must have no set end date.

  • The job must be a NOC level 0, A, or B.

  • You must receive an Express Entry number and a Job Seeker Validation Code from the federal system.

  • You must show you can support yourself and your dependents.

  • You must have or be eligible to receive legal immigration status in Canada.

  • You must meet minimum language requirements.

The process begins with creating a profile on the federal Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website, and then applying on the BCPNP system. Once registered, you will receive a score based on your job and skills. Your application is valid for 12 months (subject to change). That score is then weighed against the labour needs in BC. If your score is not high enough, you can take steps to improve it.

If you attend school in BC, this can lead to the opportunity to apply for a job.

Alberta Immigration Programs

Alberta is a province in the western interior of Canada. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program could be a great way for you to immigrate to Canada. To be nominated for this program, you must have skills to fill a job shortage in Alberta. You must also be able to support your family. This program is run under the government of Canada.

Once you have applied to federal Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), you can indicate you are interested in the Alberta Express Entry Stream. A limited number of applicants will be nominated.

You may receive a Notice of Interest letter from Alberta if:

  • You have stated an interest in immigrating to Alberta permanently.

  • You have an occupation that can help Alberta’s economic or diversification plans.

  • You have an Alberta job/job offer or work experience.

  • You meet a minimum score of 300 in the system (subject to change).

Students may also be chosen under this program or those with family in Alberta.

Temporary foreign workers may also apply under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. These workers must be working or have a job offer to work full-time in Alberta. Other eligibility criteria involve occupation, education, experience, and language.

If chosen for either of these programs, you can immigrant and work in Alberta. This could be your path to become a Permanent Resident of Canada.
