The Government of New Brunswick is investing $7.24 million to add a fourth step to the early childhood educator wage grid, effective September 16, 2025.

The new step represents a 5.5% increase from step 3 for Level 1 educators, and a 6.0% increase for entry-level educators. There will be no changes to the operator’s base wage contribution, as the increase will be fully funded by the provincial government.

Entry-level wage grid:

  • Step 1: $16.83/hour
  • Step 2: $17.86/hour
  • Step 3: $18.95/hour
  • Step 4: $20.08/hour

Level 1 wage grid:

  • Step 1: $23.29/hour
  • Step 2: $24.57/hour
  • Step 3: $25.91/hour
  • Step 4: $27.33/hour

Educators may advance one step annually based on their experience.

This wage increase supports the government’s commitment to retaining early childhood educators by improving wages and working conditions.
