Ontario invests nearly $13M to expand IDCP, add up to 153 BSU beds in five homes

· Updated October 19, 2026

Government of Ontario is investing nearly $13M to expand dementia care: IDCP to 13 long-term care homes and up to 153 BSU beds in five homes for residents.

Ontario's dementia-care expansion supports seniors and families and strengthens long-term care homes. Newcomers, students, health workers, and employers may see expanded training and specialized care environments in emotion-based models and BSUs.
