New EOI Opportunity in Saskatchewan

OutsourceDesigner Uncategorized

The International Healthcare Workers EOI system is open to the following Health sector occupations:

The SINP has launched a new International Healthcare Worker Expression of Interest Pool

This pool will help connect healthcare workers with job opportunities being offered by Saskatchewan healthcare sector employers.

An International Healthcare Worker EOI submission is not an application to the SINP. It is a pre-application form which allows you to fill out an online form to indicate your interest in working in Saskatchewan in a selected Health sector occupation and show your qualifications.

The information asked for is used to identify you for job opportunities being offered by Saskatchewan healthcare sector employers.

Those who have skills needed will be contacted with job posting information, identifying where and how to apply for a job opportunity. If you are selected and receive an employment offer, you may be eligible for the SINP’s International Skilled Worker: Employment Offer or the Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot.

Not all candidates who submit an EOI will receive a job opportunity notification. There are no limits on the number of workers who can submit an EOI; however, candidates can only have one EOI profile.

Express Entry in Canada in the Second Quarter of 2021

Editorial Uncategorized

The second quarter of 2021 broke the record from the first quarter of the year for the number of Express Entry candidates invited to apply for Permanent Residence to Canada.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada issued the invitations.

Canada’s online system for handling applications for skilled immigrants is called Express Entry. The Express Entry system takes into account skilled work experience based on National Occupational Classification, education, and other criteria including age.

Pathways to permanent residence have been important for those immigrants already in Canada during the pandemic. As vaccinations continue and restrictions are lifted, more immigrants from abroad should also be included in immigration to the country.

According to an IRCC report, almost all Express Entry immigrants secure jobs within their first year of coming to Canada. Immigrants are important to supporting Canada’s economy due in part to more people retiring and recovery from the pandemic.

Canada has a goal of inviting large numbers of immigrants over the next few years.

Canada’s Border Restrictions during the Pandemic

Editorial Uncategorized

The majority of Canadians want their borders to remain closed during the pandemic, at least for the time being, and they want proof of vaccination when the borders do open.

Canada’s border is currently closed for non-essential international travel until at least July 21, 2021. As vaccinations for Covid ramp up, plans are being worked on to reopen Canada to more travellers. Prime Minister Trudeau has indicated that the border will reopen when at least 75 percent of Canada’s population has been vaccinated. Canada is working on a national vaccination certification status program for travellers.

Until the border restrictions are dropped, only certain people are allowed to enter Canada. These include Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and their families; some international students; and certain temporary foreign workers. There are restrictions and quarantine rules in place for those who are allowed to enter Canada.

Canada’s borders are closed for now and will continue to be until vaccinations are more complete for Canadians and other travellers to the country.

Application Information for Immigrants to Canada

Editorial Uncategorized

Many people want to immigrate to Canada. However, getting information about an application for immigration to Canada has not always been easy.

Canada’s Information Commissioner investigated Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada regarding access to information about immigration applications. The only way to get the status of an application for permanent residence or find out why it was denied is to file an access to information request, also known as an ATIP. Not only does this process take a lot of time itself for those temporarily in Canada, but it is not available to those living outside Canada and often involves a representative to find out more.

The Information Commissioner said that the IRCC does not provide information through other methods and that inefficiency results in people not having access to immigration information in a better and quicker way.

The IRCC has said it is making changes to its system so immigrants can more easily get information on their applications. Changes should be coming later in 2021. These changes should include the online portal, notifications, and content on its website. The IRCC may also implement a Temporary Resident Refusal Letter with details provided for applicants. The IRCC is working on short-term solutions including more automation and improvements to the request form online, while it works on permanent solutions.

Canada and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada continue to improve for immigrants.

Immigration Application Guidelines for New Paths to Permanent Residence

Editorial Uncategorized

At the end of May, 2021, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada provided further guidelines that offer more help in understanding whether a person qualifies for the new paths to Permanent Residence. The Immigration Minister has indicated that the quotas for the new streams may be adjusted.

This criteria must be met to qualify under any of the streams:

  • Legal status as a temporary resident

    • Applicants must be present in Canada and have legal status as a temporary resident.

  • Current and qualifying work experience

    • Applicants must be working to qualify for these streams. The work can be in any occupation category. Additionally, essential workers must have work experience in Canada with a minimum of 1560 hours in an eligible NOC code in the three years PRIOR to their application.

  • Eligible Education

    • Study must have been completed at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution. Applicants must have graduated with credentials no earlier than January, 2017.

  • Proficiency in English or French

    • A Canadian Language Benchmark of 4 is needed for essential workers. A Canadian Language Benchmark of 5 is needed for international graduates.

  • Intent to reside in any province with the exception of Quebec

These additional guidelines will help immigration staff and applicants alike understand the requirements for Permanent Residence in Canada under the new immigration streams.

Express Entry Applicants in the First Part of 2021

Editorial Uncategorized

The Government of Canada uses the Express Entry system to process applications from skilled workers for Permanent Residence in Canada. The Provincial Nominee Program is for workers who have the education and experience to live in a specific province and contribute to its economy, and apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

At the end of May, 2021, Canada issued invitations to 500 Express Entry applicants to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada. The Express Entry applicants had a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program. The score for this group of applicants dropped 39 points from the last time it was done. Applicants had to submit their Express Entry applications before April 6, 2021.

In the first part of 2021, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has invited more than 68,000 Express Entry applicants to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

Since travel and immigration are restricted due to the pandemic, Canada is inviting applicants who are already in the country to apply for Permanent Residence. Canada has a goal of welcoming large numbers of immigrants for the next few years.

A Visitor in Canada and Extending Your Stay

Editorial Uncategorized

There may be reasons you want to extend your stay as a visitor in Canada. Whatever the reason, here’s what you need to know to extend your stay in the country.

A visitor visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) allows a visitor to Canada to stay for up to six (6) months. At the end of this time, a person no longer has legal status in Canada and must leave the country.

Tourists, international students, and temporary foreign workers are examples of people who are granted a TRV. The TRV is an official document to be used alongside a passport. It certifies you have met the requirements to be a temporary resident in Canada.

To extend your stay in Canada as a visitor, you may apply to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for a visitor record. If your current visitor visa or TRV expires while you are waiting for your application for a visitor record to be processed, you may stay in the country under “maintained status”. The visitor record will have an expiry date on it. You must leave the country by this new date or apply for another visitor extension.

If your visitor status expires, you may be able to restore your visitor status if you continue to meet the requirements.

A person may visit Canada for various reasons and needs to have the legal documentation to do so.

Large Number of Immigrants Applying under New Permanent Residence Paths

Editorial Uncategorized

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada began accepting applications for its six new paths or streams to Permanent Residence beginning at noon Eastern time on Thursday, May 6, 2021. The six new streams to immigration and Permanent Residence in Canada include:

  • Temporary health care workers (20,000 applications)

  • Temporary essential workers (30,000 applications)

  • International graduates from Canadian schools (40,000 applications)

  • Temporary health care workers – French or bilingual (no cap)

  • Temporary essential workers – French or bilingual (no cap)

  • International graduates from Canadian schools – French or bilingual (no cap)

Within 25 hours of the new streams being open, the International Graduate – English-speaking stream had filled its quota for immigration applications. There may have been several reasons some may not have been able to apply under this stream including the large number of international graduates in Canada, not having an English language proficiency test, not being employed at the time, or a technical glitch in submitting a payment receipt.

So, what does this mean for potential immigrants, and what should immigrants do now?

  • Some applications will likely be rejected, which may lead to new applications being accepted

  • Some people may have applied to two streams, which again may lead to new applications being accepted

  • More immigrants may be needed within Canada to fill immigration quotas given the pandemic

  • Immigration numbers and plans are flexible

  • Get documentation and English language proficiency test results ready

  • Look at other immigration paths or streams such as Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs

There are multiple paths to Permanent Residence in Canada.
