The Government of Canada uses the Express Entry system to process applications from skilled workers for Permanent Residence in Canada. The Provincial Nominee Program is for workers who have the education and experience to live in a specific province and contribute to its economy, and apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.
At the end of May, 2021, Canada issued invitations to 500 Express Entry applicants to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada. The Express Entry applicants had a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program. The score for this group of applicants dropped 39 points from the last time it was done. Applicants had to submit their Express Entry applications before April 6, 2021.
In the first part of 2021, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada has invited more than 68,000 Express Entry applicants to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.
Since travel and immigration are restricted due to the pandemic, Canada is inviting applicants who are already in the country to apply for Permanent Residence. Canada has a goal of welcoming large numbers of immigrants for the next few years.
