Entrepreneur Work Visa Category
The Entrepreneur Work Visa is designed for people who wish to either do business in NZ or, more commonly, want the opportunity to later become eligible for Permanent Residence in NZ.
- You must be able to invest a minimum capital investment of at least NZ $100,000 in your proposed business (excluding working capital).
- You must also have sufficient funds to meet working capital requirements and to sustain you and your family for a period of three years.
- You must have owned your own business or been a senior employee manager (wide discretionary authority – “planning, organization and control”).
- You must have a business or business plan that indicates that your business can benefit New Zealand in terms of exports or employment creation or the introduction of unique or new products or services.
- There is no age limit
- Must meet health and character requirements
- Funds must be lawfully acquired and be transferred through the banking system directly.
Entrepreneur Work Visa Category Requirements
The Entrepreneur Residence Category enables migrants to be granted residence if they have established and successfully managed the business proposed in their original plan. There are two ways of qualifying for residence under the Entrepreneur Residence Category: the 2 year option and the 6 month option.
Entrepreneur Residence Category (2 years)
- If you have successfully established or purchased your proposed business in New Zealand, and you have been self employed in that business for at least two years, you may be eligible for residence in New Zealand under the Entrepreneur Residence Category.
Entrepreneur Residence Category (6 months)
- The Entrepreneur Residence Category (6 months) is a faster track to residence if you have been running your business for six months or more, have invested at least NZ $0.5 million into your business and have created at least three new full time jobs for New Zealanders.
- There is no age limit
- Must meet health and character requirements
Investment Category
Migrant Investment categories are for investors who want to gain residence in New Zealand. There are two categories: Investor Plus and Investor Category.
Investor Plus Category Requirements
- Maximum Age: None
- Business Experience: None
- Investment Funds: NZ $10 million invested in New Zealand for three years, funds must be lawfully acquired
- Wide range of options including NZ Government Bonds
- Settlement Funds: None
- Principal Applicant’s English Language: None
- Family Member’s English Language: None
- Minimum Time In New Zealand: 44 days in New Zealand in each of the last two years of the three-year investment period.
Investor Category Requirements
- Total Assets of NZ $2.5 Million
- Investment of NZ $1.5 million into complying investments for a minimum of 4 years.
- Wide range of options including NZ Government Bonds
- Minimum time in NZ: 146 days (in last 3 years of the 4 year investment period)
- Meet character and health requirements
